संसद में कृषि मंत्री ने कहा, किसानों की आय दोगुनी करने के लिए कदम उठाए जाएंगे

On Tuesday ,Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed Parliament, emphasizing the government’s commitment to doubling farmers’ incomes. He assured that the Narendra Modi -led government is making significant efforts to improve farmers’ financial conditions and would leave no stone unturned in this mission.

Chouhan stated that there would be no reduction in subsidies on fertilizers, which are crucial for farmers, and that they would continue to receive loans at lower interest rates. He responded to a supplementary question raised by MP Anand Bhadoria, who asked about the status of farmers’ income over the years.

Citing data from the National Sample Survey (NSS), the Agriculture Minister revealed that in 2002-03, the average monthly income of farmers was just ₹2,015. By 2018-19, this figure had increased to ₹10,218 per month, showing significant growth. However, Chouhan noted that no survey has been conducted since 2019, and the next one is planned for the coming year. He expressed confidence that farmers’ incomes have continued to rise rapidly since 2019.

The Minister also highlighted the remarkable increase in pulses procurement under the current government. He compared the situation with the previous UPA regime, where only six lakh metric tons of pulses were procured. In contrast, the Modi government has procured over one crore metric tons of pulses, ensuring better prices and market support for farmers.

Chouhan emphasized that the Modi administration is continuously implementing policies and schemes to enhance farmers livelihoods. These include income support, crop insurance, and easier access to credit, all aimed at improving the economic conditions of farmers.

Chouhan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers, assuring that these efforts will continue to gain momentum in the coming years. He believes that the progress made in doubling farmers’ incomes is clear, and with continued support and policy reforms, farmers will experience a significantly better quality of life.
